The Modern Treehouse was designed from day one with Passive House techniques, including airtightness, super-insulation, fresh air heat recovery, rainwater collection, and more.
Massive curved triple-paned curtainwalls and shifting masses tango together to create an architectural oeuvre that one cannot help but admire. The wood veneer’s beautiful grain contrasts the deep textures of the shou-sugi-ban charred wood as the house’s façade evolves.
Elegant details are found all over the Modern Treehouse. “Rain chains” descend from the standing-seam roofing. Rafter tails soar from the roof planes. Custom scuppers create the house’s own graceful waterfalls, making even its drainage beautiful. An indoor lap pool provides an aquatic escape within the surrounding forest. The entrances garden’s foliage absorbs rays of sunlight peeking in through the clerestories and skylights above.
