California + Westport = Net Zero

When a family from California relocated to Connecticut, they found an existing stone and stucco house in need of major alternations and expansion. We started with preserving the major stone portion and converted it into a two-story family room. The old, thick stone walls needed significant restoration and we rebuilt the walls from the interior to be structurally sound and provide the needed energy-efficient envelope to help achieve a net-zero ready home. The new portions are set up as gable wings with very modern connections. As with all our homes, the new construction is built to Passive-House standards. Provisions for solar panels and a geothermal system will keep energy costs to a minimum.
