Our Westport Coastal Cape Refresh project was a renovation and addition to an existing Cape Cod home for a growing family in Westport, Connecticut. Maintaining the quaint scale of the home was a high priority to ensure it would still fit within the context of its quiet New England cul-de-sac. The scope included opening up the ground floor plan for increased connectivity between mudroom, dining, and kitchen, a new vaulted family room that faces the backyard, as well as a new ensuite bedroom on the second floor. To improve the comfort and energy efficiency of the home - the existing windows were replaced with triple-pane ones from Marvin, any remaining exterior walls received a new exterior layer of insulation, and new walls were built using double-wall construction. The redesign used a neutral palette that plays off the homeowners' excellent taste which is cozy, modern, and functional.
