Light-Filled Beach House
A Modern Seaside Home for a Family of Four
Our Light-Filled Beach House in Westport, CT is an ultra-modern marvel of light and serenity. Overlooking Long Island Sound, the house was designed for a family of four who relish their water views from almost every room.
For architectural interest, the exterior combines natural wood siding and fiber cement panels in contrasting colors. At the front of the house, the large-scale windows can be switched from clear to opaque with a remote control, and translucent panels at the stair tower provide diffuse light and privacy.
The first floor comprises a large main room designed for gathering in comfort, and a kitchen that is semi-open, with elements including white oak floor-to-ceiling cabinets (one contains a food elevator!) that separate it slightly from the main space.
The second-floor sunroom with kitchenette spills out onto the expansive deck, perfect for entertaining large groups of friends and family.
Designed with Net Zero in mind, the house has a 20kw solar array and battery backup for resiliency.
