Bucolic Farmhouse
Bucolic Farmhouse
Our 4,500 SF Bucolic Farmhouse sits on several beautiful acres in upstate New York. Being built as a forever home for a retired couple, the home will have all of its primary functions on the main floor. The third floor will be used for visiting family and guests. The house connects to a large barn which houses a two-car garage, a dedicated space for an electric utility vehical, and a woodworking shop.
Built to Net Zero standards, the house has 2x6 walls packed with Rockwool insulation and is wrapped in an additional four inches of continuous wood fiber insulation. Combined, this will give the house a thick barrier between the indoors and the elements - keeping the house warm and dry in the winter and cool in the summer months. Triple-pane windows and doors from Marvin are installed within insulated and sealed bucks for extra air tightness. Because this house will be so well sealed - it will need a much smaller HVAC system than a conven-tionally-built house of the same size would need. This home will also have an ERV - or Energy Recovery Ventilator - for providing a constant flow of fresh air into the home.
This farmhouse will give our clients the beautiful, comfortable, sustainable forever home they requested and could easily turn into a family home for generations to come.
