Elizabeth DiSalvo, AIA

Principal, CVO, Founder

Elizabeth is the principal architect at Trillium, which she founded in 2004. She is now an owner of Trillium Architects Co-operative and is the firm’s chief visionary officer and CEO. Elizabeth grew up around the architecture field, so design has been a part of her life for as long as she can remember. She graduated with a five-year, professional architecture degree from Rensselaer and has a Master’s Degree in Advanced Architectural Design from Columbia University. She has been a licensed architect for more than 30 years and is registered in New York and Connecticut. She is a member of the AIA, NESEA, CTPH, PHNY, and the USGBC, and has been on the Board of Directors of the CT Green Building Council.

Before founding Trillium, Elizabeth gained vast experience working on high-end residential projects in Fairfield County and Los Angeles as well as on large-scale projects including the renovations of Grand Central Station, Rockefeller Center, the NYC Waldorf School, the new 60,000 sf Amherst College Life Sciences Building, and the new 55,000 sf PS499 Magnet School in Queens. Elizabeth also worked on The Providence Zen Center a community with gardens, green houses, mediation and yoga halls, as well as a 20-unit-building with a commercial kitchen .

Elizabeth’s passion for architecture, sustainability, and community runs deep. On her travels, she designed and built a rammed-earth school in Nicaragua and straw bale and adobe houses in Colorado. Closer to home, she designed a women’s shelter and organic urban farm in Bridgeport, CT.

Elizabeth is an expert in all aspects of green building including Passive House, Net Zero, LEED home design, passive solar, alternative fuel sources, and alternative building methods and materials. She speaks to the public and the building industry about prioritizing green residential construction.

Elizabeth lives in Ridgefield, CT with her husband and two dogs. She serves on the town’s Planning and Zoning Commission.
