Rustic Barn Home in Westchester County

Trillium Architects designed this new 4 bedroom, 5,000 sq.ft. home in Westchester County to resemble a classic gambrel-roof barn. The clients wanted the cozy feel of an old barn inside and out, yet they also wanted the house to be as energy efficient as possible and have the most up-to-date amenities and technology.

Beautiful red cedar rough-sawn board-and-batten siding covers the exterior while wide pine boards span most surfaces inside the home. The effect is warm and beautiful. The windows are Passive House certified triple-panes clad in black aluminum on the outside and stained mahogany on the inside.

Though not officially certified, the house reaches Passive House levels for energy loads and air tightness. It is net zero ready for a solar PV array that will someday be ground mounted on the site.
